I have wholesale options for all of these if you are a retailer, so please get in touch via my contact page. I would love to work with you!

Note on Shipping:

Did you know that I only charge a flat rate for shipping for greeting cards, art prints and calendars regardless of how many you purchase?

You just pay for the biggest item in your cart and then you can add alllll the other cards, prints and calendars for no extra shipping!! I also don’t charge extra for Rural delivery (I got you country folk, I was raised in the wop wops 😊)

So, say you buy an A4 art print – within NZ shipping is $7.50 (this is what I get charged, no markup from me). Then you add a calendar, wait 2 calendars for both your sisters-in-law. Then 8 greeting cards and 3 more A4 art prints… you will still only pay $7.50 shipping.

I also have a free pickup option for my local peeps. Just select ‘Free Local Pickup’ from the shipping options in checkout and you won’t pay a thing for shipping. And let’s be honest, I usually hand deliver them if I am going past!

International folks

The shipping from NZ is really expensive for us (the downside of living on a beautiful island in the middle of nowhere). But same deal, you only pay one flat rate for the largest item. So, same price for 1 art print as it is for 10… or more! (I mean if you want to order 1500 art prints, I will be so frikken grateful for the order I am happy to shout you the extra shipping, even if you live in Antarctica!).

Packaging my items as beautifully and safely as I possibly can is one of my favorite things. I try to use as much recycled packaging as I can. However, I am not perfect, and am totally open to suggestions! I have an awesome record of items arriving perfectly. People always comment how beautiful their package was to open.

I even had an A3 print that went all the way to Italy and back (delivery address issue at the Italian end) and while the packaging was a little tatty, the art print inside was still perfect!!

Shipping Charges Discrepancy

Occasionally I have had an issue on third party sites overcharging the shipping. But I have worked out how to refund part of the shipping, so I just put that back through to the customer – even if it is only $2.80, I got you.

The other items on my website are not items I keep in stock in my office studio in Stoke, Nelson, NZ. They are printed on demand and shipped by my awesome collaboration partners from all over the world. I love print on demand, it means I can offer a huge range of high quality items with no wastage. Nothing is created until you order it, and then it is printed just for you. So the shipping rates are set by them and not something I have any control over.

Although mānuka/kahikātoa and kānuka share the common name of ‘tea trees,’ they are genetically distinct from each other.

Mānuka or kahikātoa (Leptospermum scoparium), dubbed ‘tea tree’ by Captain Cook, displays significant variability, ranging from creeping forms and small shrubs to tall trees reaching up to 10 meters in height.

Despite their variability, all forms of this species share characteristics such as sharp-tipped leaves, large solitary white or pink-flushed flowers with distinctive short, dark red stamens, and persistent greyish-white nut-like capsules. Mānuka plants are sometimes covered with sooty mold, a black fungus feeding on the honeydew produced by scale insects.

Widespread throughout the North, South, and Stewart Islands, mānuka/kahikātoa thrives in diverse habitats, including wetlands, river gravels, and dry hillsides, reaching elevations of up to 1800 meters above sea level. Mature specimens exhibit remarkable tolerance to environmental challenges such as drought, waterlogging, strong winds, and frost, thriving in less fertile, colder, wetter, and more acidic sites compared to kānuka.

Early settlers grappled with clearing their land and viewed mānuka/kahikātoa and kānuka as invasive shrubs undermining their efforts. However, today, these plants serve as vital tools for re-vegetating barren, eroded slopes. By providing shade and wind shelter, they create ideal conditions for nurturing slower-growing native plants. Eventually, as taller species overtop them, mānuka/kahikātoa and kānuka succumb to shading.

Manuka

Unlike many other native plants, mānuka/kahikātoa and kānuka are typically avoided by browsing animals like sheep, cattle, and goats, making them valuable assets in restoration projects.

The sturdy, reddish wood of mānuka/kahikātoa was extensively utilized by Māori for various purposes, including crafting paddles, weapons, spade blades, bird spears, mauls, and building houses. Its bark served for making water containers, while the inner bark provided a waterproof roofing layer.

Early explorers referred to mānuka/kahikātoa as ‘tea tree’ due to their use of its green leaves as a tea substitute. Additionally, they brewed twigs of this plant with rimu to make beer.

Mānuka/kahikātoa flowers emit a sweet fragrance and serve as a crucial pollen and nectar source for native bees, flies, moths, beetles, and geckos.

Chemical analyses have revealed that mānuka/kahikātoa pollen and honey derived from it contain potent insecticides and antibacterial agents, effective against intestinal worms and bacterial infections. Mānuka/kahikātoa oil is now commercially available in various cosmetics and healthcare products, both domestically and internationally.
