The Story Inside My Head

Bringing Art and Literature Together

“The Story Inside My Head” was a standout exhibition at The Refinery, curated by Jo Kinross and David Ryan. For this project, I created a visual identity that united art and literature in a fresh, imaginative way. I wanted my design to promote the exhibition and capture its quirky, playful spirit. My aim was to help visitors connect emotionally with the artists’ stories.

I started by diving into the exhibition’s concept. The curators wanted to move away from traditional ‘art speak’ and critical jargon. Instead, they focused on making the artwork and materials accessible and engaging for everyone. Inspired by the exhibition’s title, I developed a fun and innovative design. I made sure each piece reflected the personalities and creative styles of the participating artists.

Creative Design Process

I designed the cover artwork, a vibrant promotional poster, and the full catalogue layout. I used bold graphics, imaginative layouts, and a touch of whimsy to create a cohesive look. Each element worked together to capture the essence of “The Story Inside My Head.” These materials helped draw attention to the event and invite a wide audience to The Refinery.

This project means a lot to me. I completed it during my studies, and it featured in my final exhibition work. It shows how I blend artistic inspiration with practical design skills. My visuals resonate with both curators and audiences.
